Standard conformance
I've talked about value of validation and how Hvassing.com doesn't validate according to the W3C-standards for both stylesheets and document markup. For the most part, this is still true, however, the current design and layout validates and what doesn't validate is due to the CSS-validator not understanding CSS-3 yet. There are some other bits and pieces on this site that doesn't validate, however this is mainly due to the way the content management system handles the information and posts stored. Thus there's not much I can do with it.
Browser compatibility
The design has been tested in most modern browsers and some not-so modern browsers without breaking too badly. That said, all visitors using Internet Explorer version 6 and below will see the following message:
Life is simply too short. Browse Happy.
Read more about why this is and what you can, and should, do about it.
However, this message will only be shown once every month, thanks to the beauty of cookies, as a friendly reminder that visitors using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 and below should consider updating their browser to a more modern one.
Another note to those who are using Internet Explorer version 6 and below
is that the left-hand column is transparent unlike for all other browsers which parse the left-hand column with a white background. This is due to the way Internet Explorer 6 and below handles free-floating elements and that alike and is merely the lesser of two evils.
Accessibility
Accessibility is the practice of making web pages easier to navigate and read. It is intended to assist those with disabilities
In order to ensure that people with disabilities can access, read and navigate effectively through this site, several steps has been taken. These steps towards a more accessible site does not only help those with disabilities, the goal is that the site will be easier to use and provide a better user experience than before -- regardless of disabilities and that alike.
