Roadmap

22nd of May, 2006 (Last modified: 24th of May, 2006) Håvard

Hvassing.com started with versioning in May 2006 after the first homogeneous WordPress theme saw its first ray of light. As there is no record of how many designs there have been or the number of changes made, the new version of Hvassing.com will start at version Oslo. Any thoughts on what Hvassing.com will look like in the future will be jotted down on this page.

Once the changes has been made they will be elaborated on in the Change Log for your reading pleasure.

  • Version Oslo
    10/06/2006

Version Oslo is the first version of Hvassing.com that will be based entirely on WordPress as a content management system to handle the content of the site.

    • Updated WordPress
WordPress will be updated from WordPress 1.5.1.1 to 2.0.3
    • Entirely new colour scheme
High contrast red and orange is now used as the main colour of the site
    • Improved accessibility
The site will have improved accessibility, which will make the site more easily access for people with disadvantages. Concrete steps towards a more accessible site:

      • Ensure that all links, both internal as well as external pointing ones, have title values
      • Ensure that all images have either an alt-value or longdesc where applicable
      • Add accesskey-values to most frequent used links, this is particularly important for the header menu
      • All form elements must have a label (preferably with a title and for attribute where applicable) and a tabindex
      • Add option for users to turn off colour-coding of code where applicable in order to ensure legibility of the text
      • Add stylesheets for small screen readers such as handheld
      • Add stylesheet for print
    • More coherent design
The site has been redesign entirely with coherency in mind. This means that Hvassing.com in its entirety should follow the standard design that is used on the main page.
    • Standard compliant design
The markup, i.e. the code, for Hvassing.com should validate according to the W3C-standards for XHTML 1.0 Transitional. This does not include the dynamic content that is produced by WordPress.
    • Standard compliant CSS
The design, i.e. the CSS, for Hvassing.com should validate according to the W3C-standards for CSS-2. The validator does not recognize CSS-3 yet and thus any CSS-3 will be interpreted as invalid.

Note: This roadmap is not in any way complete and is constant subject to change

  1. Sounds good! I’ve never seen anyone use roadmap like this before, so be sure to write in on how it affects your work. I’ll be sure to comment as changes start to appear.

Red and orange? Can’t wait to see how that plays out! ;)

  2. Seems like we have a copycat! ;-)

Anyway, I think you should increase the line height.

I was browsing through the WordPress site when I came upon their roadmap and I thought that it would be a great idea with something similar as I have loads of ideas but no structure.

I was afraid you would say that, however, I’ve had this roadmap on my local WordPress-installation for quite some time now. Nevertheless; it’s a good idea and I must admit that I have nicked the idea with tracking changes from you.
If anything, it only proves that I think you have some good ideas ;)

    Increased line-height is noted.
