From where?
I was born on the third of March 1987 in Narvik, Norway.
There isn’t much interesting to say about my first ten years or so, except that they were happy ones. I got to grow up in a suburb close to the woods where we used to play a lot, I got to breathe clean air every day, play in white snow and climb in non-EU regulated trees.
After some moving around I came back to Narvik where I lived for seven years. I attended three different schools, where the two last ones were a real treat to attend. Frydenlund VGS, a secondary high school was the last one, and I only spent a year and half there. Good fun!
After a year and half at Frydenlund VGS the path lead me to Tanzania and the International School of Tanganyika (IST). Attending IST proved to be an academic challenge in many ways, and it kept on pushing me forward. I graduated from IST on the 27th of May 2006, a day I will remember for years to come.
After Tanzania and IST, the path led to Oslo, Norway, and the University of Oslo where I'm currently studying Media Science.
Doing what?
I love to organise gatherings and events, holding talks and that alike. In short I like to be the centre of attention. As a result I've been both a host master and information- and support-crew for computer gathering NaITParty in Narvik. Standing in front of all those people giving a brief talk is an amazing feeling.
Experience
For almost two years I worked for a local computer company in Narvik, Norway called Data Design Drift AS. I did support related services on a whole variety of different systems, everything from simply removing spyware to configuring small servers. A great job that gave me a golden opportunity to experience the real working world, a good experience at my age.
In October of 2006 I started working at the IT-department at the university, starting in 1st-line support for all the students and end-user, and 2nd-line support for all the local IT-technicians. Come November another job opportunity came along as a local IT-technician for a small research faculty within the university campus.
In general
For more than two years now I've had the pleasure of saying that I have a girlfriend who's studying «physics, astronomy and meteorology», not my cup of tea. Really. We're living in a small apartment in Oslo, Norway, where every day is a treat.
I read a lot of books and I buy even more. I read between ten and fifteen blogs every day, most of them web or design related. I like to know what's going on and is a proud owner of Mint.
The site
I’ve owned the domain Hvassing.com since 2002, and it has seen quite a few changes since that time. It all started with the urge to learn PHP, just like the "big boys" could.
Hvassing.com is currently powered by WordPress in addition to a handful of plugins to make the platform behave like it should. Some of these plugins are home-made, strictly made for this site and thus will never be seen on a GPL/GNU-licence download page. Rest assured that you’re not missing out on anything important.
The search engine on this site only search through pages and posts stored within the WordPress-system. If you’re looking for something you know you’ve seen before you can either take a look at the Sitemap or contact me.
