The state of things - in general

5th of December, 2005 (Last modified: 5th of December, 2005) Håvard General , Thoughts ,

Who cares? There are a few things that often come back to me, and that I really like thinking about. One of them is how nothing is perfect, another is how nothing turns out like you had expected them to. It seems as if there is a little devil in all things, or following every human being making sure that history is altered, even slightly, from what you would like it to be. A little devil who toy with faith, if one believe that there is such a thing as faith.

Some might think that this is a bit pessimistic of me or that alike. In a way it is, but it is more that I've finally accepted how things are. I once went to this conference where the only thing they talked about was how you cannot change certain things. He did not mean everything, there are indeed things one can change. His main point was that if you cannot change it, alter the result or in any way change the final result of something you should not worry too much about it.

I very much subscribe to this idea and I try to apply it as much and often as I can. The tricky part is to know when to apply it though. When one should not care - lately I've done a lot of «not caring». A trend I will try to keep up, at the same time try to care about what matters.

  1. Hey,
interesting post here. What do you exactly mean by things that don’t turn out the way you expected? It seems you’re talking about someone here..well, I think I’ve had a similar experience..it’s not until I’ve finally met and gotten to know somehow that I find out they’re almost devilish or somewhat beautiful in their perfectness. This relates to my husband, but then again you could apply this to an abstract idea or sitatuation too.

    Sometimes caring is beautiful!
    All the best
