I’m Singin’ in the Rain

29th of May, 2005 Mystic Queen English ,

In this cool yet perfectly perfect month of May, Dar-es-Salaam was hit by what one would call it a feast for the overheated. In literal terms it more or less means that our winter had hit home. The concept of winter in a tropical and exotic country like Tanzania seems somewhat paradoxical but at the end of the day the thrill of waking up and sleeping to a cooler air lets everything seem better than it actually is.

Take the IST for example, where winter is welcomed somewhat unoticeably considering that open space is somewhat ubiquitous and almost like the air needed to breathe. I reconsider this statement considering that the past few weeks heaven's fountains have overflowed. The thunderous and distracting slosh of puddles and wet clothes couple together to make a somewhat wet ambiance.

And at the end of the day when the rain comes to a standstill and the skies are nicely dotted with tufts of grey clouds, I'm able to overlook my balcony and out into the open. I feel like this is where I want to be for a long time to come. The feeling is somewhat unavoidable and the Oyster Bay just sings with a calm and collected hum of fresh air.
